there are actually two lyric versions within this english work. both originated from the hebrew version composed by Issachar Miron(aka Stefan Michrovsky) with lyrics by Jehiel Hagges (Yechiel Chagiz). however, the english version with lyrics by Mitchell Parish is not the version recorded and popularized by the Weavers in 1950.
