The 'Instrumental Album' series gives a fresh insight into the recording process and the complexities of the PANIC ROOM sound.
Intended as companion pieces rather than replacements for the official releases, by removing the primary focus of the original recordings (the voice) instrumental layers and themes that were previously submerged in the mixes can now be heard for the first time.
'SKIN' is Panic Room's 3rd album and was the first release to feature a string quartet. The subtleties and layers in the music, Anne-Marie's silky BVs and the interplay between the classical and rock musicians can be fully appreciated in these instrumental mixes that allow Anne-Marie & Jon's string arrangements to shine through in all their glory.
NB. There are 2 bonus tracks free when you purchase the SKIN Instrumental Digital Album -
a) the GTR mix of 'Tightrope Walking' (a keyboard-free instrumental mix without the Rhodes track).
b) Jon's instrumental home demo version of 'Velvet & Stars' that features a spooky pipe organ! ('Haunted Fairground' was the working title before it became 'Velvet & Stars').
This means that only Tracks 1 to 11 were playable on Bandcamp yet all 13 tracks were included in the download.
Track 13 had a typo in the track title using "Intrumental".
