Phase 4

Having recently impressed with the excellent "Throwback" 10-inch on Local Talk, Liverpool producer Dale Howard returns to Morris Audio with another three-track assault of retro-futurist bump. With its clarion call to "party all night", UKG-style bassline and skipping, New Jersey beats, "Phase Four" sounds tailor made for peaktime plays. "Feelin" doffs a cap to John Ciafone and Lem Springsteen, all tough but loose beats, cut-up late night vocal samples and tasty organs. "What U Gonna Do" keeps some of that flavour, combining it with a strong, speed garage style bassline for a touch more dancefloor hustle. Solid, playable fare.
