murmer - music for scruffy dancing

this is a studio reconstruction of a live performance given at struppig tanzen on the 10th of june, 2022. the performance included field recordings, endemic and exotic objects (i.e., some brought to the space, some found on site), d.i.y. surround sound (i.e. battery-powered speakers moving through the space) and audience participation. this reconstruction makes use both of the original sonic elements used in the performance, and the live recordings or the performance itself. many thanks to joi for the invitation, sarvesh for the welcome, hospitality, and photos, all the performers for their wonderful sounds, and the enthusiastic audience for their participation and for making it a great event.

sonic elements included:
- metal washers and wood screws (instrument invented by oliivia tubin mcginley, age 4 (at the time) (live)
- lap dulcimer, played with a milk frother (france, 2007)
- hydrophone recording of insect, fish and plantlife in a small river (france, 2007)
- bowed nails in a soon-to-be-demolished house in valga (estonia, 2020)
- a junk sculpture of a dinosaur found outside the leverkusen venue (live)
- medium wave radio signals (france, 2007)
- approximately 100 liters of fermenting fruit wines (estonia, 2017)
- audience movement, breath, participation, spilled beer, and voices (live)
