The audio bio for Lil' Mo states: At twenty-one years old, Lil' Mo already has an impressive resume. She sang backup and toured with Missy Elliott on last year's Lilith Fair, she's written for Timbaland, 702, Nicole, Imajin, Blackstreet, 3rd Storee and Before Dark and signed a major label deal. Spin Magazine named her one of nine up and coming artists to watch in '99 and claimed she has "Lauryn Hill-like talent for writing." The Village Voice said, "Baby, she's a star." With the release of her debut album Based On A True Story, Lil' Mo tears it up in all departments. Her vocals are penetrating and her spirited writing dominates the album. The album features the single "If You Wanna Dance." Based On A True Story was produced by Flavahood Productions, Suga Mike, and Big Baby, who have worked with Gerald Levert and Queen Latifah among others. And the track was produced by Bryce Wilson of Groove Theory.
The audio bio for Gina Thompson states: Gina Thompson comes from a large "singing" family. She was the youngest of eight children, so growing up she had to sing loud to be heard. That was obviously no problem due to the spirited vocal chords she was blessed with. In high school, the homecoming queen and cheerleader entered a talent contest with three friends and sang the En Vogue song 'Hold On'. The girls won. Little did Gina know, that she would be signed to the same record label as the diva superstars in just a few years. Along the way, Gina found chart-topping success with her 1996 gold single 'The Things You Do' produced by Rodney Jerkins. Now Gina comes to Elektra with her new album 'If You Only Knew", which was executive-produced by none other than Missy 'Misdemeanor' Elliott. The first single is 'Ya Di Ya' featuring Missy Elliott.
The audio bio for 3rd Storee states: Yab Yum Entertainment and Elektra are proud to announce their initial release, the self-titled debut from 3rd Storee. Not since the adolescent heyday of the Jackson 5 in the 70's and the around-the-way smoothness of New Edition in the 80's has a young male group produced such an effusive mix of R&B and pop. 3rd Storee features the infectious lead vocals of 12 year old Lil' Man and the bubbling harmonies of 15 year old's D-Smoove, Jay-R, and Kevonté. Since being brought together, they've been performing in showcases and talent shows around their native Los Angeles, winning more than their share of events. Seven songs from the quarter's debut were written by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, and producers include Vada Nobles, who's worked with Busta Rhymes, Lauryn Hill, and Notorious B.I.G.. The album also marks the introduction of Yab Yum's own innovative production consortium Y-Corp. The new single from 3rd Storee is 'Party Tonight' produced by RL from Next and Jamie Hawkins.
The audio bio for Beverly states: Yab Yum/Elektra recording artist Beverly has a classic story. Two days after she crossed her fingers and dropped a karaoke tape in the mailbox in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, she was telephoned by Tracey Edmonds, CEO/President of Yab Yum Entertainment, who received the package and was blown away by the raw, un-produced beauty of what she heard on the tape. Now, two years later, Beverly has co-written and recorded her full-length debut album Heart & Soul, a glistening catalog of emotional ballads, classic pop and rhythmic R&B. Beverly's vocal capability is a must-hear. Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds collaborates as a writer and has made Beverly's debut his own special creative project. Soulshock & Karlin are contributing producers, and the first single 'You Came Along' was written by and produced by hitmaker Rodney Jerkins.
The audio bio for Lord Have Mercy states: Yeah, yeah, yeah, this is Lord Have Mercy. Mr. Al Simmons. Flipmode represent. Get prepared for my 1999 release Thee Ungodly Hour. Raw, unpredictable madness. Special producers include Scratch from EPMD fame, Havoc from Mobb Deep, Notch from The Teamsters, and many unpredictable special guests on the mic. Get prepared, if you can. Lord Have Mercy, out.
