Annotation

Hourglass emerged from the rust belt city of Buffalo, New York in a mid 90’s scene that was primarily either youth crew or metallic hardcore. They wanted to break the mold and do something different, so they took the heaviness of their local contemporaries like Slugfest, Cinderblock, and Fadeaway and combined it with the chaos of some of the Gravity and Ebullition bands from the West Coast, then added a bit of the melodic emo sound coming from the Midwest. All of these diverse sounds were the building blocks upon which the unique sound of Hourglass was formed as they shared the stage with Deadguy, 400 years, Grade and others. You can hear their evolution on this discography through the newly remastered versions of their demo, seven inch and split twelve inch.
