Rui reinvents the brooding abstract original - lifted from Daou's latest studio opus 'Light Sweet Crude (Act 1: Hybrid)' - into a minimal "hard, dark and soul" masterpiece that finds the dulcet-toned siren at her most radiant against a surging backdrop of aquatic pulses, hypnotic eerie synths and thumping drums. Baum (who co-wrote/co-produced the original) journeys inward to deliver a more haunted and stripped-down expansion where Daou's ghostly vocals flutter with an awkward poetic elegance against layers of icy synths, frenetic beats and a druggy languid groove.
