Mood Box

Rustic Overtones are pleased to announce that their "Mood Box CD Release Party" will be Dec 31, 2014 at The State Theatre in Portland Maine. This show will be celebrating the 20 year anniversary of the band and will celebrate the release of their new 4 CD retrospective, "The Mood Box", which contains 68 tracks spanning over the 20 years. Curated by the band's singer/frontman/lyricist Dave Gutter, the CDs are essentially mix tapes categorized by '"moods" (Soft, Fire, Pop and Fan) and the Fan CD will contain 17 previously unleased live and studio tracks.

Dave Gutter describes the CD collection thusly:

Disc 1 will be "The Soft Box" a mix of the more chill, balladeer moments of Rustic's nine albums. These songs were sprinkled through their albums and represent a softer sound that was rarely incorporated in their live show. Many of these songs began as low-fi outtakes or interludes but the "Soft Box" plays them as a showcase of a songwriting and production style that was a beautiful anomaly among the rest of their catalogue.

Disc 2 will be titled "The Fire Box" and is the band at their most fiery, hard edged moments. Recurring themes of fire and explosions became the dialogue to Rustic's most cacophonous soundtracks. This disc is the Rustic tracks that are darker in both composition and theme, and show Rustic's punk and electronic influence.

Disc 3 is "The Pop Box" plays out like a greatest hits (or misses) collection. The pop gems, crowd faves, show stoppers etc. Upbeat and unashamed, these are the songs that defined Rustic on commercial and college radio. When you're in the mood for some extra cheese...

Disc 4 "The Fan Box" is live bootlegs, television and radio appearances, covers and unreleased demos. This disc also has Rustic live at XM satellite radio in it's entirety, which went down in history as the first ever concert to be broadcast by satellite radio.... ever.
